I collect airchecks of L.A.'s (mid-80s to present) Dance/CHR/Top 40 radio stations. Listed below is my current collection.

I am especially looking for Groove (KACD/KBCD), MARS (KSRF/KOCM), and B-100 (KIBB) airchecks.

KIKF 94.3 "KIK-FM" New Country(defunct). 6/23/00. 11:00am. 45min. Second to last day of KIK. Signed off 6/24/00 and is now Soft Rock "Cool 94.3"

KCMG/KKBT 100.3/92.3 6/30/00. 90min. 5pm. KCMG "Mega 100" and "The Beat" 92.3 swap frequencies. Side A of this tape has The Beat moving to 100.3 and side B has Mega moving to 92.3.

KOCM/KSRF 103.1 09/07/92. 45min. 12pm. Sign-off of "Variety 103.1" (this was the format after MARS-FM) and the debut of KAJZ/KBJZ "JAZZ-FM".

KACD/KBCD 103.1 1/9/96. "CD 103.1" 45 minutes of the format that existed after "JAZZ-FM" and before "Groove Radio".

KACE 103.9/98.3 1/31/00 10:30pm. The last 90 minutes of R&B Oldies station KACE, which had been on the air for over 20 years. The sign-off occured at midnight on Jan 31. There is about 20 seconds of dead air, then the signal of X-103.9 from the Inland Empire is heard when KACE shut off its transmitter.

KQLZ 100.3 "Pirate Radio." 03/17/89. 60min. Yes, the old Pirate Radio. This tape features the switch from KIQQ to KQLZ on March 17, 1989. The last two songs of KIQQ are heard then the switch happens at 5am.
KQLZ 100.3 "Pirate Radio." Morning show taped some time in 1991 with Scott Shannon.

KKBT 92.3 06/30/99. 90min. Frequency swap with Mega 100.3. See KCMG above.
KKBT 92.3 1989. 90 min. Sign off/switch from classical format KFAC to heartbeat sounding stunt for the new "KKBT 92 - Rock With a Beat."
KKBT 92.3 10/13/89. 8pm. 45 min. The original "Beat 92", a good but unfocused format. It soon changed to the Urban "92.3 The Beat" we know of today.

KMET 94.7 06/20/79. 45min. The "Mighty Met" Whoo-Ya! Cynthia Fox.
KMET 94.7 02/14.87. 60min. KMET becomes KTWV "The Wave." This tape includes the last few songs played as the legendary KMET. The official format and call letter change is announced and then the station becomes "The Wave."

KLYY 107.1 "Y-107" 7/98. "Lyphted" live featuring Sweeding Egil mixing some cool techno.
KLYY 107.1 "Y-107" 11/3/99 6:30pm. 90min.
KLYY 107.1 "Y-107" 12/12/99 10:15pm. 60min. Last night of Y-107. This tape features the show "The Chris Carter Mess," which was a "new music" show and also some off the wall rock songs. The station had fired its jocks on 12/7/99 and ran jockless until it signed off at 2am on 12/13/99. 107.1 signed on at 5pm on 12/15/99 as "Viva 107.1", a spanish CHR.

KNAC 105.5 "Pure Rock" Long Beach/Los Angeles. 02/15/95. Last 75 minutes including sign-off. KNAC lasted from 1986 to 1995 leaving a gaping hole on the FM dial for some good ass-kicking rock.

KRLA 1110AM (Oldies) Los Angeles 11pm. 11/21/98. 60 min. Last hour of legendary KRLA, including sign off. KRLA is now a "talk" station.

PIRATES:

104.7 5/28/99. 45 min. About 5 minutes of House Music and the rest of the tape is Spanish Rock. Strange stuff.
104.7 8/13/99. 60 min. Very wierd "Radio Clandestine" broadcast with two martian sounding female hosts. Wow!

100.7 2/29/00 90min. Very cool dance/underground pirate in the Hollywood area. This tape features trance and house.
